Her Legacy Lives On

About Yvan Freemond

Yvan Freemond was the kind of woman who made everyone around her feel seen, valued, and cared for. Born and raised in La Gonâve, Haiti on July 29, 1948, she was rooted in faith, community, and an unshakeable sense of purpose.

While her husband worked abroad in America, Yvan raised their three sons on her own — selling produce and goods to provide for her family. But no matter how modest her means, she always set something aside for someone in need. Her generosity was not occasional. It was a way of life.

She spent her years quietly serving others — checking on neighbors, supporting elders, and giving without ever being asked. Before she passed, she left her sons with a simple instruction:
“Take care of as many people as you can. Make sure they are fed.”

Yvan passed away on February 7, 2017, after a prolonged illness. She was 68 years old — gone before she ever got to rest in the care she had so freely given to others.

But she left clear instructions — and sons who were listening.   Caleb, Marcson, and Claudy Angervil have honored those words ever since — quietly, consistently, the way she raised them to. Together with extended family, they pool monthly contributions to support elders in Haiti — ensuring that basic needs like food and transportation are consistently met.

The Yvan Freemond Memorial Drive gives that dedication a name, a structure, and a way for others to join them.

Every act of support carries her legacy forward.
